By providing my students with a high-interest story about friendship and acceptance, I hope to encourage my students to read more on their own. Since reading is the foundation of most of what we do in life, I feel that this is one of the best gifts that I can provide to my students. Many of my students don't have personal libraries at home, so I want to make sure they have quality books at school. Freak the Mighty is a great story that will not only encourage a love of reading but will also help my students learn about accepting others that are different than ourselves. Thank you for helping me build lifelong readers!
