My special education students use computers daily in the classroom for individualized instruction. We often use the read-aloud feature on programs because they are non-readers. It is important to differentiate instruction so they can have access to the regular education curriculum and be successful in their least restrictive environment. My economically challenged students with disabilities are often not able to purchase durable headphones for classroom use. It makes these students feel ashamed if the computer reads aloud to them even on the lowest volume setting. These headphones are so helpful with instruction and assist with distracting from these students differences. By providing these headphones, you are helping these students with special needs succeed!
