Sitting in a classroom for 6+ hours a day on a hard chair in front of a cold desk is not the most ideal place to work for student learning. The new furniture and equipment would give my students a variety of options to work besides on the hard chair they are use to. Many of my students would be able to move around and change their seat choice based on the activity we are doing in the classroom. Their organization skills and behaviors would improve tremendously. With flexible seating, students would be able to work independently in their seat choice when needed, but also could move the furniture around when they need to work in groups. Students need to be comfortable in their learning environment and flexible seating would help them achieve that goal. This project is extremely important to my students and their learning. Our students are the future, and if we are not encouraging them and doing everything in our power to motivate them to reach their highest potential, their future will be limited. Having flexible seating in my classroom will allow my students to work and study in their most comfortable learning spot. A hard chair might not be the perfect spot to learn, but a yoga ball might just be what one student needs to excel in school.
