All children love when a book is read out loud to them and they have the freedom to explore the pictures and connect what they hear to what they see. Teaching students to enjoy reading from the very beginning of school is a personal goal I have as an educator.
When my students have the opportunity to enjoy audio books they are improving fluency, expanding their vocabulary, and most importantly: in our Kindergarten classroom, it removes the anxiety of the unknown and develops a love of stories. With books that have the accompanying story on CD, my students will have the option every day to explore an adventure found only in the pages of the books they read.
