When children become actively involved in acts of showing compassion to others, they learn about this value in a very deep and enduring way. I will be introducing my 1st grade students the various ways to give back to their community. For this project, my students will be actively participating in making care packages and serving food items to the homeless. These projects teach students to see a world beyond themselves. Community service projects are meaningful, fun, and effective ways to get kids to routinely think compassionately about the needs of others. The items donated will give my students the supplies needed to carry out their community service project.
