Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that works for them. One way of motivating my students is by making sure they are comfortable. Students are more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given choices of locations to work. They will have the opportunity to sit at different tables with different types of chairs, sitting on a sofa, sitting under tables or on huge pillows with clipboards, or even lay on the carpet.
I have noticed major differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating during independent work time. They get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk the entire time. I have selected flexible seating products that will aid in making learning more effective for my students by giving them choices that will further engage their learning. The Bouncy Bands attaches to the bottom of their chairs and will give them a chance to release their extra energy, anxiety, frustration and boredom without disturbing others. The K motion stool who need movement to focus. The stool has discrete motion in all directions and provides a physical outlet for anyone who struggles to sit still. Cozy loungers provide an additional comfortable floor seating option for children to sit. They will be able to move them anywhere in the classroom easily. I have used flexible seating in the past from students who rather stand to rocking chairs and it makes a huge difference when students can choose where they feel most comfortable. It is my hope that these additional seating options will allow my students to have a wonderful year.
