My students are growing up in constant trauma: gun shots throughout the night, drug dealing, and not knowing where their next meal will come from. Imagine not having the ability to articulate and appropriately communicate your emotions in this type of environment.
These resources will supplement my lessons about talking through emotions rather than using physical violence, as my students are taught through their surroundings. My students will learn how to identify their emotions as well as create relationships with their teachers and peers. My students are working hard to break the pattern of violence, and our calm corner will provide them with the appropriate and safe materials they need to learn about their emotions!
