I am a new teacher to our school district. The classroom that I acquired was nearly empty. I have spent a lot of money trying to fill our empty classroom. I wanted it to feel homey and comfortable for my students. There was not a rug in my classroom. I was able to find an old one in a storage closet. I vacuumed and steam cleaned it several times and cleaned it up the best that I could. I put it in our classroom and thought I was ready to go! Unfortunately, my students do not fit on the rug. I have 3-4 students who have to sit on the tile floor, next to the rug. We would love to be able to sit as a whole class on the rug. The students that are on the bare floor feel excluded and it makes me sad for them.
