I've actually had it said that my students are having too much fun learning! I want to continue that in our classroom. When kids are engaged they will learn concepts better and more quickly!
I will use these materials to build our students' musicianship while they are having a blast! For example: Fidget spinners become rhythmic dictation tools while the student shows the note values while keeping a beat aloud. Twister is transformed into "Note Name" or "Solfa" Twister where instead of "Right Hand Red" the instructions are "Right Hand Red Quarter Note" or "Right Hand Red La." Candyland becomes "Hand Sign Candyland" where students show the Curwen hand signs for each solfa syllable. Duct Tape is used to create staves outside for "Swat the Note" and Instructional Cubes become a game of "Roll the Dice" where students change tempo, dynamics, and articulations based on the roll of the Dice!
Help me engage our middle school students in building their musicianship and realizing their potential!
