Our incoming fifth grade bilingual students may be traumatized by the events of last spring and seeing their families struggle through job losses or sickness. I want my class to grow emotionally as well as academically this year.
I will read a special picture book a day and have a discussion with the kids about what it is really about and what the theme of the book is.
I will use the pocket charts to display the academic vocabulary for each subject (Science, Math, Social Studies, Spanish and English Reading).
