This lesson will have students researching an issue/cause they feel strongly about in the world and creating a design with symbols to bring attention to these issues. These issues/causes are totally up to the individual student and reflect on what they feel strongly about.
Students will not only be learning a new art skill with this project but they will be learning about social causes that exist out in the world. The reason I chose to create this project by printmaking is because the process allows the symbols that are created by the students to pop and stand out. Since, printmaking only uses one color the focus of the viewers is more on the content of the artwork. Yet, the actual process is a lot of fun for the artists.
