In today’s math classroom it is important for students to know how to use the tools of their world. Calculators help teach process and how to use basic tools to help solve problems. However, we do not have enough classroom sets of calculators for each child to be able to use one. Right now you see 4 students use 1 calculator. So students are not engaged or taking ownership of their learning. With more calculators in the classroom, more students can take advantage of classroom learning. Full sets of calculators have been out of the budget for years. This project would help get a calculator in every child’s hand.
