I am teaching about 70 5th graders Science this year and one of their favorite topics to study is human body systems. I want to use a life size human skeleton to reference the skeletal system and joints. I also teach about the circulatory, respiratory, muscular, digestive and nervous system and can use the model point out locations and functions of these systems in the life size model as well. My students will be allowed to interact with the skeleton and visualize what is within their own bodies. My students will be using the skeleton to do sketches, ask questions, build models, define functions, and many other activities. Having a life size model will build much more interest and understanding in learning about their own body systems. I have also requested a pack of 7 Human Body Learning Charts that we can hang up and reference for the other body systems.
