Students work hard on rigorous language arts and math lessons during the school day. Children look forward to art lessons at the end of the day.
Most of the children have not had exposure to art lessons before, and they learn how to use a variety of mediums and genres. The students enjoy this special art time, and it is very therapeutic for them. Since the rest of the day is very academic, they enjoy this therapeutic time when they are allowed to interpret and create on their own.
The third graders love it when I tell them they are little artists! They smile and beam; that is the best feeling in the world to be able to provide that for them.
