My students are second graders. I have an inclusion classroom with diverse academic needs. I have students reading on a first grade level along with students almost on a fourth grade level. I also have a hearing impaired student and a severely handicapped child with little use of hands and legs. Most of my students come from the average working class homes. Their parents are very busy trying to maintain their jobs and have little time and energy to spend with their children. Sitting down to play a game or communicate over dinner is a thing of the past. The games I am requesting can build lost communication skills once shared at home. What a homey feeling to be transferred to the classroom with all my students interacting together.
