Discovering math in the form of crochet will help students to apply their thinking in new and exciting ways. The students will be able to take ownership of their work by designing their project from start to finish.
By physically creating objects from simple yarn and hooks, my students will better understand patterns and structure in the world around them. We will be creating stuffed polyhedra, scarves, and blankets to demonstrate mathematical concepts that appear in the real world.
I have seen how well students respond to a skill they see as useful in their lives and would love to introduce another way to view the world.
