The items on my list are intended to be used with activities to encourage higher level thinking such as sorting, patterns, and problem-solving. These items will help us engage in higher level thinking because they are hands-on resources. We also teach letters, letter sounds, numbers, counting, social skills, and emotional skills.
I believe the children in my classroom deserve to be challenged. We have multiple centers in our classroom such as dramatic play,
science, blocks, computer, writing, and library. We also provide manipulatives. However, I am looking to enhance the centers and change them out often to increase interests. Items such as Inside your Outside will help with the All About Me theme. Items such as the claw machine will help with behavior management. These items are also items the children will relate to home to encourage real-world connections.
Connecting the activities to the real world helps children feel comfortable and safe in the classroom. It also helps the parents know how to help their child using everyday items. While the main focus is the children, I also help the parents learn how to extend their child's learning. I believe these items will help the parents understand how to use everyday items to extend their child's learning.
Some units we cover are All About Me, Colors, and Shapes. My list includes items to enhance these units. I have also included items to help with letter identification and sound recognition.
