The books requested cover topics of which elementary students often struggle. One of the books I ordered is about lying. So often the children lie because they fear the consequences. This book will help me explain what they did wrong and what they can do better the next time. The books cover needed social skills that my special needs students often lack. Children often show trauma thru their misbehavior. Patience and a humorous approach should help me gain that needed rapport. The classroom is often too full of activity for them to self calm. The bean-bag chair and softer lighting will help them develop a calm down strategy. They will be the focus point in the 'cool-down' corner of my office.
