Teaching writing and reading to third graders is a magical experience. The children find their voice, and they help each other become excited about the world through books they read and share, and through their own written expression. The only way my class can accomplish this love for the written word is to be part of it. The materials I have selected for my class will make a huge difference in the way they see themselves as writers. They will feel prepared to learn and not have to worry about asking another friend to borrow an item they might not have been able to buy for class. The children write their small moment stories in a writer's notebook. They share their work with others and help each other correct their work. Many glue copies of great writing into their notebooks. It is fun for them, and rewarding.
