As a first year teacher I never expected to be teaching 20 students virtually outside of the classroom. But as a future second year teacher, I understand the importance of technology in and out of the classroom.
Distance learning has made me realize the plethora of apps available to my students that encourage literacy and on-going learning at home.
This year I only had two iPads for a class of 20 students. My goal is to purchase two more iPads in the hopes of increasing literacy in my classroom during guided reading as well as during free choice in my kindergarten classroom. Due to the virus, it is unknown how our school year will look like. I hope to use the iPads to introduce students to the apps they will use at home, so they are familiar to them. I want to decrease the stress not only for the students but the families if virtual learning continues well into the school year. Having these two iPads will help me introduce apps at a higher rate than compared to only having two for a class 20+ students. These iPads will prepare students for a new era of virtual learning.
