When Covid-19 hit our area, my school learned quickly our families were not prepared to learn remotely. Valuable time was lost. Most families had no access to technology or the internet. My dream for the fall of 2020 is to have a class set of Chromebooks. I would start the year teaching my boys to use programs( Google Classroom, ZOOM, Class DOJO, and Storyworks) that would allow me to continue teaching if a crisis arises again and they must learn remotely. My boys were at a clear disadvantage during the crisis.
There is no end to what my boys could learn from having full time access to technology. In addition, a class set of Chromebooks would allow me differentiate instruction and monitor growth more accurately. I would love to be able to assign homework that would require them to use technology and allow them to check out a Chromebook some nights. I can feel their excitement now!
