Th multi-cultural books will serve as a powerful tool in enabling students to gain a better understanding of both their own culture and the cultures of others. Through this deeper knowledge, relationships can be strengthened, bridging the gap between students from diverse cultural backgrounds. They will also help support our classroom library so that students from all cultures, races, and ethnicities see themselves within our classroom. We need good literature that every student can identify with. Each of these books has been carefully selected because they show the characters facing great obstacles and the overcoming of them. Literature like, “Ada Twist, Scientist, I Am Enough, and She Persisted”, are just a few examples of the positive roles models that my students can identify with. These books will be used for read-alouds and available for students in the class library for independent reading. These books will make a huge difference in our class library and support the students' reading skills. These inclusive books will empower the students' can-do-it attitude as they think and write about becoming something great in their world.
