Basic math skills are critical to help my students succeed in and out of the classroom. An area which I find difficult for my students is money concepts. Many children learn money concepts in their general education classrooms or through their own personal experiences. However, students with disabilities often need special instruction to develop money skills.
I would love for my students to understand the basics of money. This will allow them to feel secure in their abilities to independently shop knowing that they are able to buy what they need and knowing the amount of money each item costs.
Also, an important subject I teach my students each day are job skills. Knowing money skills will allow my students to feel confident in their job skills. They will be able to obtain a job perfect for their individual skill sets.
