6th and 7th grade students are asked to read and write daily. Finding reading materials that are relevant and engaging can be a constant challenge for a Language Arts teacher. When students care about what they are reading, they are eager to write! By providing my students with Scope Magazine, my young writers will have rich reading material to inspire thoughtful written responses. Many of them struggle with writer's block and waste precious class time trying to think of something to write! But high interest reading material can turn a reluctant writer into a writer with something important to say!
