I teach an environmental science class and I want to purchase an oil spill cleanup kit for my class. We live in an area (Permian Basin) where the oil industry is a huge part of our economy.
I want to show the students how environmental science can directly relate to their lives and how they can use it to help clean up their community. Living in an area that is greatly impacted by the oil business, I hope that by doing this lab I can get students interested in a field that they are exposed to on a daily basis but do it in such a way that they are making a positive difference.
