The items on my list will help my students to feel more comfortable in their learning environment. The colors and brightness will be welcoming to them. My students live in a rural area that does not have access to much. The items will allow me to build strong relationships with my students. They will know that they are safe and loved at school.
The rugs will help during whole group instruction. It will allow my students to come together in a central area and to get away from their desks. The fire retardant spray will allow me to keep my classroom up to code per the Fire Marshall. The bean bags and futon will give my students flexible seating options for independent reading time and partner workspaces. The paper decorations will help to brighten the classroom.
The schedule pocket folder will allow me to have the schedule posted in the classroom. This will help the students to know what is expected and what is coming next in their day. This will ease some anxiety for those students that need to know their day and have a set routine.
