I can't wait to teach a lesson about community workers, then have my Kindergarteners move to the most comfortable spot in our room to allow their ideas to flow as they write about what they would do if they became a teacher or a firefighter! Flexible seating will allow them the opportunity to station themselves in a place they work best. Sometimes they might choose to work with small groups to collaborate and share or they may choose to work independently.
With flexible seating options, they might bounce, wobble, lean or rock, increasing oxygen flow to their brain, allowing more alert and focused minds. The children and encouraged with flexible seating to decide their most comfortable spot to stay calm, focused and productive.
Many of our students benefit from sensory input, the seating here has been selected to stimulate students' sense of touch.
