Having access to quality, interesting texts will help my students learn more about what it means to be a good reader. These books will also help them become more informed about the world around them. Students will have the opportunity to read these books at their choice but also discuss what they are reading in the books. Having a discussion about the books they are reading helps them to think deeply about what lessons the characters are learning and how to apply those lessons to their own life. A good book can teach so much more than vocabulary. A good book can teach life skills, how to think critically about the world around them, and how to be an empathetic member of their world. Please help me teach my students these important life skills as well as the love of and for literature.
