Imagine the daily space in a kindergarten classroom. Students are up and moving from one space to the other to effectively meet their learning needs. They have work stations for writing, reading and math centers. They have table time to work independently on their current learning. A big part of their day is participating in carpet time for instruction directly lead by their teacher.
What happens when they don't have a beautiful divided space to sit? Students have a harder time transitioning and knowing where to be during carpet time and a more difficult time remaining in their space and respecting others’ space.
The Place for Everyone rug is essential in my classroom to provide a collaborative area for my kindergarteners to gather. It will provide a great space for them to more effectively learn to hold collaborative conversations and is necessary for instruction.
