The lab equipment and supplies I purchase now will be used year after year to introduce students to all facets of Biotechnology. Students will learn about biomedicine and prosthetics as they construct an artificial hand and heart valve. Industrial and bioremediation uses of biotechnology will be explored in the lab by showing students how we can clean up oil spills to maintain the biodiversity of the ocean and reduce human impact on the environment. We will focus on agricultural applications of biotech, to prepare students who wish to take the Ag Elective at the high school in our area.
My dream is to expose my students to all of the exciting opportunities Biotechnology careers have to offer! By participating in hands-on activities and lab work, my students will become scientists and engineers who solve real world problems through critical thought and collaboration.
