When teaching student's to read music they must transfer the knowledge to an instrument to fully grasp the concept and apply what they are learning. This is usually done with the use of recorders (wind instruments) or the original instrument-the voice. In the midst of the pandemic it is risky to sing and play wind instruments in the music classroom, as respiration is necessary for both.
Playing the ukulele is the perfect solution to applying music reading to an instrument while eliminating the risk of excessive aspiration in the classroom.
