In order to assist the students in developing speech patterns/sounds, I am requesting a listening center which will enable students to hear and repeat the phonetics of the alphabet. The students will be guided on a daily basis with the listening center. Some students are not verbal and the listening center will prove invaluable to these students, in terms of assisting in the development of their vocabulary. It is necessary for students to identify alphabets by sound, or recognition. The listening center should enhance the student's ability to distinguish sounds. The students are read stories daily and receive xeroxed pictures of the characters/animals to color. The purpose of this is to reinforce the story and promote fine motor skills.
Students are encouraged to participate orally, and demonstrate the varied activities by displaying in the hallway, classroom or to take home. The more resources, the more opportunities to encourage learning.
