Flexible seating allows students to have more autonomy in their learning and increases levels of engagement in classroom learning. Students will be able to choose comfortable seats that will allow them to stay focused during independent learning times in a space that they find best for their own learning. This seating will provide more of an ability to focus on individual learning experiences.
Having flexible seating in the classroom will create a space that is more focused on the social-emotional needs of students, which in turn will allow them to engage in all areas of academics more authentically. As a social worker that has worked in mental health fields, I have seen the benefits that this type of seating and choice can have for students well-being, and would love to see my students benefit from these supports.
