Teaching science can be very challenging due to the fact that many concepts in chemistry are abstract. Cognitive development, motivation and relevance of the subject material also constitutes barriers to learning science. Models and other hands on science activities will allow my students to overcome some of these barriers. It will also help them to improve their critical thinking skills and also make the connections between the mysterious realm of the subatomic world and our everyday life. Today’s young men and women are the scientists of tomorrow. Performing experiments can make learning science more accessible and enjoyable for all my students.
