Living in a border town near Mexico, our children are predominantly Hispanic. As a community, we lack the resources that allow our children to learn about the diversity in culture around the world. We preach and show appreciation for our Latino culture and family, but we tend to forget that life is bigger than the border wall and Border Patrol Stations that surround our city. I hope that our project gets chosen in order to transport my students to different continents and lands. My students deserve the opportunity to see real-life figures and their struggles in order to comprehend how self-awareness and education can be a savior.
