These notebooks will give my students the opportunity to practice their reading and writing skills in authentic and relevant ways. Each student will be able to have their own reading and writing notebooks that will be used in a few different ways.
Our reading notebooks will be split into several sections, each with a different purpose. We will use these notebooks to create our own dictionaries, track our fluency growth, build reading strategy resources, and record reading responses. These different activities will allow my students to organize their learning and see how their learning and knowledge changes over time.
Our writing notebooks will also serve multiple purposes; first and foremost, each student will get to have their own writing journal and respond to different writing prompts throughout the course of the year. We will also have a section for grammar activities and resources, which will be super beneficial as my students develop their skills as writers.
My students are hard working, persistent, caring individuals who could really use these materials. As so many of my students are English Language Learners and Emerging Bilinguals, providing opportunities for them to be better readers and writers is essential. Please help me give my students these valuable resources that will help them grow as readers and writers this year!
