I am a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing and have a birth to five, deaf and/or Hard of hearing, social and speech group! I am responsible for funding all of the materials I will need to create a fun, inviting and educational environment for my kids. Please help me create a beautiful space for my little ones!
Deaf and/or hard of hearing children require direct teaching of social skills and speech skills in order to keep up with their typically hearing peers.
In my cart, I have a variety of winter and holiday themed books that we will be able to use throughout the winter season. These books will help to supplement lesson plans that I have created through March, by targeting winter and holiday vocabulary. These cute and fun books will capture their attention, keep them engaged, all while they directly learn the appropriate vocabulary that they will be hearing around them this time of year. The games that I have chosen will help them to build the necessary vocabulary and phrases to participate in games and cooperative play that they will be able to generalize and carryover into their everyday lives; playing with their siblings, family members and peers! They will help to increase their auditory exposure to these words, concepts and phrases so that they are able to understand and participate in the many wonderful experiences that they are about to have this winter! They loved the cooperative games that we received from my last project, so I would love to get them a few more! These materials will help to directly teach them all of the vocabulary and natural language they will need to be successful in the classroom, and out in the world
