I teach 1st grade in a rural community in Nevada. Our population includes Native Americans, Hispanic and Caucasian students. Many of my students come from homes where their parents work "shift" hours and are not always available to read to them. We also are starting to get new students whose parents work on the pipeline. These families move often as the construction project of the pipeline moves.
