Currently my students use older point and shoot cameras and their iPads to create video projects. These are capable, but limited compared to a video camcorder. Many filmmaking concepts can't be fully experienced because of equipment limitations.
The Panasonic camcorder will have the capability to allow students to create videos that demonstrate the basic concepts of filmmaking such as depth of field, camera movements, and camera shot types. The tripod requested will allow smooth camera movement to be able to pan, tilt, and zoom. The camcorder requested is rated high for recording in low light situations which will be the case when students use to record our school band recitals, dance performances, and drama productions.
