Although I have a wide range of needs and learning levels in my classroom, my students all have two things in common: their love for learning & technology. Currently, my classroom is equip with two generation one iPads. They run very slowly and, most of the time, wont stay connected to the internet. We are unable to use them with our everyday lessons.
By being able to provide four new Amazon Fire tablets, my students would be able to have a greater access to their curriculum and be able to share them during leisure learning time. The curriculum we use, Unique Learning Curriculum, has online access to stories that are at my student's reading levels, and can be read aloud to them if need be, as well as interactive worksheets and games that go along with the topic of the month. Students would be able to complete the activities by themselves or even while taking turns with a partner. This allows for them to interact with each other as they have fun, all while learning.
All of our monthly pre and post testing is also done online. With the tablets, I would be able to meet my students wherever they may be, rather than have to have them sit at my desk as we complete the testing on my computer. This allows for the students to feel more comfortable as they complete their testing.
The tablets are something that would be beneficial for my whole group of students and something that we would be able to continue to use year after year.
