My students ranging from kindergarten to second grade have a wide range of needs and different abilities. My students are visual, hands-on, and auditory learners and we are in need of hands-on materials that will fit their needs.
In the classroom the students are very hands-on and interested in learning. In our classroom we do a whole group activity/lesson and then we break to independent hands on activities to keep students engaged. These independent activites match up with our whole group lesson and what each student is learning.
I have students in 2nd grade still working on kindergarten standards. While students are doing their independent activities this gives me the opportunity to work one on one with students to help them meet their individual goals from their IEPs. It can be hard and time consuming to always come up with materials for students to do independently in the classroom. These activities need to match standards as well as there individual learning goals. These materials will go to good use and help the students become more independent in their learning and excited to learn with more hands on activities.
