Many students with functional communication needs have difficulty following stories, which can manifest in difficulties in answering WH- questions, retelling stories, labeling characters, and creating their own stories.
With storytelling and puppet kits, students will be able to understand, visually follow, answer questions, and re-tell the story using the puppets. As we are all different kinds of learners, some students may benefit from visual reinforcers and others from tactile or auditory reinforcement. Giving the students the ability to engage with a story visually and physically can only benefit how they understand and learn reading skills so imperative to their future learning.
