Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During DEAR TIME (Drop Everything And Read) some choose the library to focus and learn to read. While our current library has one designated chair and one pillow, my students still find it relaxing and cozy to read. Students look forward to reading while being able to lay out and get comfortable rather than sitting in their ordinary classroom chair.
My students would be thrilled and eager to read in the library if we had more access to enjoyable seating. Not only would the colorful stools bring color and life to our classroom library but it would allow more students to join classmates in reading. The bean bags chairs will provide assistance to students in maintaining good posture while making them receptive to reading. Also, the floor flower pillows would add additional comforting floor seats. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. The rainbow canopy along with the vibrant orange rug would also work to foster a more fun and conducive environment for reading.
Introducing my students to a interactive reading environment will help our classroom library promote positive habitats within my students. Without having exposure to a welcoming reading area outside of school, my students would be enlightened to come to school having access to a fun reading zone!
