This year our School District is focusing on Project Based Learning (PBL). I have recently received training on PBL and I am so excited to begin implementing it in my classroom. However, I am stuck because at the core of PBL the students are working on real world skills (collaborating, working in groups, editing/revising, problem solving) in order to try and solve real world problems.
With the single student, heavy desks that are currently in my room, the room is not conducive for collaborating with peers.
There isn't any space that is functional for them to collaborate as a group, build or layout projects, or have a think space. The students deserve to have options of movement, standing, laying on the floor, or sitting and working instead of being confined to an uncomfortable desk.
By funding my project you would allow my students to take ownership of their academic learning, and also learn real life collaboration skills, that are critical to their success in the real world.
