The Chromebooks that I am requesting would make a huge difference in helping me engage my students in authentic, digital learning and research opportunities. I believe my responsibility as an AIG teacher is to provide opportunities for my students to engage in activities that will nurture and build on their passions and interests. I love being able to use Chromebooks with my students to research current events, develop arguments about social issues, and publish their writing for literature projects. Unfortunately, I currently only have access to two Chromebooks in my classroom, making it impossible for all of my students to be able to participate in research projects at the same time. If I were to have an additional four Chromebooks for my students to use, it would enable me to give my students access to engaging and challenging activities involving digital literacy.
Using technology not only equips students with skills to be college and career ready, but also transforms a lesson by creating opportunities for students to share their thinking with others in real time. I love using Padlet, Google Classroom, Kahoot, PearDeck, and WeVideo as tools to allow my students to learn new concepts and share their knowledge with others. In addition, using technology gives me formative assessment data to inform my instruction and quickly implement changes that are important to my students’ learning. I need your help and support in making digital learning a reality in my classroom this year for students that truly deserve it!
