My students, grades 1-5, all have learning disabilities and sensory processing disabilities. Sensory activities facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. Each student has their own needs and ways of learning.
Students have better achievements and retain more information when using their senses. Getting students involved with a lesson and using their senses keeps them engaged and motivated to learn. Students enjoy different sensory activities and learn to process new things.
Working with my students with disabilities has been a great experience and I look forward to sharing new activities with them this coming school year.
