Our counselor's office lacks the help of technology. Our students nowadays enjoy working with electronics and that’s just how they feel more comfortable. We have many students who come to our office with a crisis (anxiety attack, depression, etc.) and they are completely shut down and refuse to verbally communicate with us which makes it hard to help to figure out what’s going on with them. We have used several calming and soothing programs to get them to communicate to us other than talking, but we do this on our cell phones or theirs which makes it hard at times and the use of an iPad would be far more useful and practical. We also help our students who are special needs (students who are on the Autism spectrum) and many of them love technology and usually open up to us more when we have something they enjoy doing.
