Reading and writing are very connected, and each one supports the development of the other. The more we can get kids to write, the more their reading will improve as well.
My first graders are very motivated by being able to see their own work in print; and they are more willing to write, and they produce more high quality writing when they know it is going to be printed.
I would like to use this as a strategy to help my reluctant readers and writers. I am hoping that the more opportunities they have to print their work, the more motivated they will be to participate in reading and writing activities.
