A project that the Dash coding robot will be used for is designing floats and balloons for a mock Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City. This STEAM project supports 21st century learning through design thinking, coding, robotics, and persuasive/creative writing. During this project students will review the history of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, read/listen to a related picture book, "Balloons Over Broadway", and write a persuasive argument about their float/balloon idea. Students will also design a float/balloon, measure and map out a parade route, construct their design, program robots to navigate the parade from start to finish, and finish by writing about their Thanksgiving Day Parade experience.
