Students will receive one math shaker and shake for 5-10 seconds then align their shaker with their partner and identify whose number is greater or less than the other. Student pairs will also be able to count up or down by 10s, 100s, 1,000s or more and verbalize their understaninding if their new number by using grade level math vocabulary. The added bonus of music will help students get excited about how quickly they are understanding math and, hopefully, create feelings of accomplishment, anticipation for other ways to use the shakers, and eagerness to teach others how to use them.
